The above picts were taken between 11-12 days of age. You can see that some of their eyes have opened (as of today, 10/09/11). I'm sure the others will follow within the next couple of days. All pups are starting to walk, but are still wobbly. It won't be long and they will be running.

The above pict was taken at 18 days of age after eating their first non-mom meal. Note the pup on his back! Too cute! Seeing this helps us to understand the term "dog pile!"
This highly-anticipated litter, brings together two hunting stars, Misty and Rommel.
Misty has achieved several hunting titles/awards. She is 3/4 of the way to her NAHRA Working Retriever title, but has achieved her NAHRA Started Hunting Retriever title, AKC Junior Hunter title, and two hunting awards by the Poodle Club of America. She has also achieved two passes toward her AKC Senior Hunter title, and placed 4th in a Big Five competition against several hunting dogs, including Master Hunters.
You can view some of Misty's previous pups here. She has only had two litters to date; and this is a first litter for Rommel. Misty has two pups that are certified as service dogs (from her last litter with Titan who will all be 2 years of age in October 2011). One of her pups with Rommel will be trained as a service dog for a disabled vet. This litter is PERFECTLY suited for that type of work, as well as retrieving.
Misty is a very calm, loving, extremely focused and obedient, medium-sized girl (23" tall) who has more heart than most large dogs when it comes to a desire to work and please. (She has often carried very large waterfowl that closely match her own weight and size--never stopping until she delivers to hand.)
Rommel (who is larger at 27" tall) not only loves to work, but is from very old, working lines He has very few Wycliffe dogs in his line (Wycliffe poodles were highly inbred to "set" a look. Jean Lyle, Wycliffe's owner, produced more champions than any other kennel, proving that inbreeding produced consistency in look. This was before the pitfalls of inbreeding or line breeding were fully known and our breed has suffered as a result of attempts by those who have adopted that strategy beyond reason--even continuing to closely--meaning father to daughter, etc.--inbreed to this day.)
I am not sure if there is a poodle out there anymore that does not have some Wycliffe dogs in it's lines, but Rommel is close, and it shows in his working mentality. There is a small group of us who actively search out and acquire old lines in the hopes that returning them to breeding programs will result in increased health for the breed, as well as a return of structure that was designed for working. (Most conformation dogs have moved very far from this reality.) But, I digress, so here's more about Rommel and Misty.
Rommel was entered in his first North American Hunting Retriever Association (NAHRA) field tests on 1/15-1/16/11 and passed all tests both days, then passed all tests both days of 3/12-3/13/11. That said, he achieved his NAHRA Started Retriever title (at just 13 months of age).
As a result, this breeding should produce pups that will work well in performance or companion homes. Click to learn more about SR Misty, WC, JH, WCX and SR Rommel, WC.
Their pups have a very low 10-generation Co-Efficiency of Inbreeding (COI) of 0.42%. Both parents (as well as some of their ancestors) have been fully-genetically tested and results are verifiable on the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals site by clicking on Misty and on Rommel.
Because we are confident of the parents' and their offsprings' health, we offer a full, all-inclusive 3-year genetic health guarantee.

All of our pups are microchipped, have tails cropped (long docks), age-appropriate shots, and come with a genetic health guarantee. We no longer remove dew claws because five tendons are attached to them which help to stabilize a performance dog's front legs, thus helping to prevent injury as they run and turn.
