“What Is A Title Really?"
Not just a brag, not just a stepping stone to a higher Title, not just an adjunct to competitive scores. A Title is a tribute to the dog that bears it, a way to honor the dog, an ultimate memorial. It will remain in the record and in the memory for about as long as anything in this world can remain. Few humans will do as well or better in that regard. And though the dog himself doesn't know or care that his achievements have been noted, a Title says many things in the world of humans, where such things count.
A Title says your dog was intelligent, and adaptable, and good-natured. It says that your dog loved you enough to do the things that please you, however crazy they may have sometimes seemed. And a Title says that you loved your dog, that you loved to spend time with him because he was a good dog, and that you believed in him enough to give him yet another chance when he failed, and that in the end your faith was justified.
A Title proves that your dog inspired you to have the special relationship enjoyed by so few; that in a world of disposable creatures, this dog with a Title was greatly loved, and loved greatly in return. And when that dear short life is over, the Title remains as a memorial of the finest kind, the best you can give to a deserving friend, volumes of praise in one small set of initials before or after the name.
A Title is nothing less than love and respect, given and received permanently.

We've only just begun. Keep checking this page for updates on our titling progress. While I would like to take credit for our hunting titles, 90% of the praise goes to my husband, Richard. He gets up earlier than he has to to train before work, oftentimes braving bad weather and trips away from home to make them happen; all the while smiling because he loves the sport as much as our dogs do.
HUNTING:
Misty achieved her Working Certificate on 5/02/2009. In 2010, she attained her NAHRA Started Hunting Retriever and AKC Junior Hunter titles, and two passes toward her AKC Senior Hunter title. She also earned her Working Certificate Excellent prior to achieving her NAHRA Working Retriever title on 12/10/2011. Misty is the 3rd poodle in history to attain a Working Retriever title with NAHRA; our Titan was the 2nd. On 1/14-1/15/2012, she achieved her first two Master passes with NAHRA (two more to go). (NAHRA differs from AKC and HRC (UKC) in that they sponsor only field tests which require the dog to pass trailing and quartering tests, in addition to land and water marks/blinds.) Misty also placed 4th against senior/master level dogs in a Big 5 Singles Competition held by the Western Arizona Gun Dog club on 11/06/2010. Misty is such a calm and loving girl until she goes hunting wtih Dad. She is gifted with the ability to know just when to be calm and when to fire up. She is a hard-charging girl when she is hunting or training. Her titles have been slow in coming, not because she doesn't have what it takes, but she would almost always come into heat just as Rich was preparing to leave for a hunt test. (Because dogs are off-leash, girls in heat are not allowed.) Because we love all things about her, we have chosen to keep two of her pups: Bear and Cali. |
Titan has earned the first two passes toward his Master title with NAHRA. He also achieved his AKC Senior Hunter title on 5/02/10, making him the 24th Standard Poodle in history to achieve that honor. He attained his NAHRA Working Retriever title on 1/16/11, making him the second poodle to have attained that level of proficiency (Misty was the 3rd) and he achieved it so quickly that he qualified for NAHRA's Brass Band Award. (NAHRA differs from AKC and HRC (UKC) in that they sponsor only field tests which require the dog to pass trailing and quartering tests, in addition to land and water marks/blinds.) Additionally, he is a NAHRA Started Hunting Retriever and AKC Junior Hunter, and has earned both his Working Certificate and Working Certificate Excellent. Titan approaches all things in life with the heart of a pup, even though he isn't anymore. He loves life and playing with Dad just makes it all the greater. |
UCI Nat'l/Int'l Champion, NAHRA Started Hunting Retriever, Canine Good Citizen, and 1/2 way to her AKC Junior Hunter Title. Additionally, she earned her Working Certificate on 2/11/2010. Bear has heart and a strong desire to please and greets everyone with a smile (literally). She earned her NAHRA Started Hunting Retriever title at only 13 months of age and the completion of 4 consecutive passes within a single calendar year earned her NAHRA's Brass Band Award. She earned her National and International Conformation Championships on 3/13 and 3/14/2010, as well as her Canine Good Citizen certificate. |
On 1/15-1/16/2011, at just 11 months of age, Rommel achieved his first two passes toward his NAHRA Started Retriever title (the most he could achieve in one single weekend). Then on 3/12-3/13/11, he achieved the last two passes, achieving his title.. At 12 months of age, he achieved his PCA Working Certificate and the first two passes toward his AKC Junior Hunter title (so he is half-way to that title). Poodle Club of America Working Certificate We look forward to posting additional titles for Rommel in the future. |

CONFORMATION:
UCI Conformation Judge's Report UCI National Conformation Championship UCI International Conformation Championship CH Ace's beauty allowed him to achieve his National and International Championships in one weekend, with two Best In Show and 3 Reserve Best in Show wins during the same single weekend of shows (see the top picture taken with Judge Kenneth W. Clemons the weekend of the show, March 13-14, 2010). Additionally, Ace is 1/2 way to his UKC Championship title, achieved against an AKC/Canadian Champion who consistently went Best of Opposites against Am CH Yes. Ace is one of the most gentle and loving dogs that I have had the pleasure of knowing (let alone owning). He is beautiful in structure and comes from Champion lines. In addition to being a wonderful member of our family, he will contribute in many positive ways to our breeding program. |

CH Kimber achieved her title with 6 competition wins in one weekend. She is among the first in our pack to greet strangers in our home. She is a very confident and outgoing girl, who loves absolutely everyone. |

Cedar is a NAHRA Started Hunting Retriever and AKC Junior Hunter and has also earned her Poodle Club of America Working Certificate. NAHRA Started Hunting Retriever Title Poodle Club of America Working Certificate Cedar was the first AKC-hunt titled red poodle and the first dual-titled red poodle. She was spayed due to complications resulting from the delivery of her second litter. She is a very loyal (and protective) companion who has faithfully stood beside Richard in every aspect of his life, always ready for whatever he asks of her. While we now have several hunting dogs to love and admire, she was our first titled poodle and will always be Richard's favorite--their bond is irrefutable. She is our logo dog (red pup carrying a pigeon) and will live with us forever. |
UCI Conformation Judge's Report UCI International Conformation Championship CH Kiss is a fun, high-spirited girl who can easily incite humans and other dogs to play. Her movements are absolutely effortless and watching her run and play is awe inspiring. Her grace and beauty resulted in a title in just two weekends, despite a very bad haircut and the competition of other extremely beautiful poodles.
